About

This blog is my intellectual refuge, mostly for my very personal thoughts on freedom. The title comes from Antal Szerb’s book The Third Tower – Journeys in Italy. Szerb was a Hungarian writer and literary scholar, who wrote this book as an account of his Italian travels in 1936.

Some of the thoughts I’m venting here might seem very naïve, but if they help readers reflect on their values, the blog fulfills its purpose.

About myself — my name is Balázs Kis, originally trained as an IT engineer, but having a PhD in Applied Linguistics.

You may have noticed that my posts have gone scarce these few months. I have resumed work as head of technical communication at Kilgray Translation Technologies, a software company where I’m one of the founders, too.
